FREE MEALS BEGIN Monday, SEPTEMBER 14, 2020
The USDA will temporarily provide free breakfast and
lunch for ALL children 18 and under.

The Delwood Community School District is participating with the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to continue the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) through the end of 2020, or until available funding runs out.

The flexibilities allow summer meal program operators to continue serving free meals to all children into the fall months. This unprecedented move will help ensure – no matter what the situation is – children will have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

• For the time being, this means ALL children ages 18 and under will be eligible for free meals (1 breakfast and 1 lunch daily).

• We will serve in-person learners at Delwood Elementary at their regular lunch times.

• Grab and go for remote learners or other eligible children will still occur daily from 11:00-11:30. Please call into the school building each morning by 8:30 to place your pre-order for the day. Meal pick-up bags will include breakfast and lunch meals. 563-674-4164

• Pick-up available at the door to the west off the cafeteria. This will be along Delmar Ave and pick up time will be from 11:00-11:30.

• When funds run out, we will go back to the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs and students will be charged according to their eligibility.

Dear parents/guardians,
Another positive COVID-19 case of a staff member has been identified within our elementary. We are currently working with Clinton County Public Health to best support the health and safety of our teachers, staff, students and families while maintaining confidentiality of the individual. Please know we are following all recommended guidelines from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Education. Our district is currently taking extra cleaning measures to disinfect the areas the positive individual may have been in contact with. Per the guidelines by the Iowa Department of Public Health and Clinton County Public Health, the positive individual has been identified and is placed in quarantine and isolation. It was determined by Clinton County health that there were no close contacts for this individual. No other students or staff will need to be quarantined.
We encourage all families to practice preventative measures at home which include:
● staying home when you are sick
● wash your hands often
● avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
● keep 6 feet of physical distance from others
● wear a cloth face covering in public settings
● cover your coughs and sneezes

Thank you,

Delwood Community School District
Mr. Hawley and Mr. Marshall

Dear Delwood Families,

The Delwood School Board and Administration would like to have some updated information to help make decisions for the 2020-2021 school year. Please complete this survey as soon as possible but no later than Sunday August 9 at noon. We have attached two documents from the IDPH and Department of Education to help families understand COVID related sickness and how the state expects school districts to transition from in person learning to district closure.
