Delwood Community School District is accepting sealed, silent bids on a 2008 Blue Bird 59-passenger school bus with 104,056 miles. Bids must be over $1,500.00. Last week was Random Acts of Kindness Week, and the 4th, 5th and 6th grade students participated in a Secret Mission Kindness Challenge to celebrate! These are the winners from each grade who completed the most challenges. Good job to all students who participated, and big thank you to the Delmar Lions for donating $5 gift cards to The Ice Cream Derby for the winners!

In case you haven't heard, we are having a friendly competition to see which class can bring in the most Kleenex. The stakes are high...the winning class gets to choose a new hair color for our principal, Mr. Marshall!
Our Kindergarten class is off to a great start, bringing in 60 boxes so far!
Our first grade students enjoyed some games while celebrating Valentine's Day. One game challenged them to move candy hearts using only a straw!
First grade students researched and studied Snowy Owls with Mrs. Proesch in Media class. At the end of the unit, they made their own version of Snowy Owls, that are now perched on the library window sills in the hallway for all to see.
The light dusting of snow over the weekend allowed our students to create some beautiful snow angels!

Our preschool students enjoyed exchanging Valentines today! We had some very creative boxes - including a flamingo, a Lego and a monster truck, just to name a few!

It is National School Counseling Week, so it's the perfect time to say "thank you" to our fabulous counselor, Mrs. Flanigan. We appreciate all that you do for our students and our school. We are so lucky to have you!
Third grade has been studying the life cycles of plants. They have been comparing the growth of two different types of seeds, studying what the life cycles of different plants look like and how they disperse to continue on their life cycles. Students have been sketching and observing the seeds each day.
Students in Ms. Cathy's preschool class painted a Little Blue penguin, which is the smallest penguin, and an Emperor penguin, which is the tallest penguin. Then they compared their height to the heights of these penguins. Students also learned about Macaroni penguins.
Students aren't the only ones who enjoy it when someone reads them a book. Some of our staff members were treated to a story read by one of our preschool students this week. He did a great job!
Our preschool students have been learning about penguins. They practiced balancing an egg on their feet, like the male Emperor penguin does while the female goes out to sea for food.
Our first graders had some STEM fun last week building towers!
Students have been enjoying PE class on the slopes! Exercise comes in all forms and from the looks of it, these students are having a great time getting their daily workout.
Our kindergarten class spent their time with Jess Wagner using words like soft, bumpy, smooth and hard to describe items found in nature. Then they sorted some items using a Venn diagram.
The Delwood School will have a two hour late start on Wednesday, January 26 due to low temperatures. There will be no early dismissal for students. Stay posted for any additional updates on a possible school closure.
