Reminder - There is no school Wednesday, November 22 through Friday, November 24. Enjoy your break!

Our sixth grade students celebrated the completion of the DARE program last week. We want to thank Deputy Lange and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office for making this program available to our students!

Delwood is looking for an Associate to work with our students. If interested please call the school to get an application.

Our first grade class read the story I Need My Monster, and then were tasked with using the Engineering Design Process in STEM class to design and create their own monster. They had to draw their monster and then use felt pieces to piece their monster together. Mrs. Proesch helped by sewing the pieces together.
Their monsters turned out great!

Here are some pictures from our Veterans Day Program on Friday. Our building was decorated with artwork created by our students. We enjoyed listening to our speaker tell about her military experience. We also enjoyed having community members in the building for the program. Some of them even stayed for lunch!

Mrs. Flanigan caught these students showing good character in October!

Delwood is looking for a bus driver!

Thank you to all the parents that attended parent-teacher conferences!

Here are some more pictures from Grandparents Day!

All of us here at Delwood would like to give a great big shout out to all the grandparents who made this year's Grandparent's Day a huge success. We would also like to give an enormous thank you to those who came as volunteer grandparents! We appreciate all the kindness you shared with so many that day. We've included some pictures for everyone to see all the smiles on the faces of not only our students, but the grandparents as well. Thank you for making this day special!

The third grade TAG group started the year by reading the book Nerdycorn by Andrew Root. They considered some of their personal strengths and how those strengths help them in their lives for their very own "nerdy" animal drawing and description. In the book, the main character, Fern, creates a machine to make ice cream, so we made ice cream as well (but in a simpler way)!

Second graders had to use their sleuthing skills to figure out the codes to a book genre escape room in Media class.

We had some fun before the big Iowa - Iowa State football game. Students and staff dressed to support their team and we enjoyed some games in the afternoon.

It's hard to believe we have been in school for nearly one month! We experienced some extreme heat the first few days of school, which kept us inside for recess. Luckily students had some awesome activities to keep them busy, thanks to our amazing PTO who donated items for us to use when the weather keeps us inside!

We are celebrating Grandparents Day this Friday, September 15th from 1-3pm. Join us for an afternoon of fun!
