Student Council kicked off Red Ribbon Week with a skit. They did a great job!

This week is Red Ribbon Week and one of the topics that will be discussed with students this week is bullying. Mrs. Flanigan, our Guidance Counselor, uses this image when explaining the term bullying to students.

Just a reminder - we have dress-up days this week for Red Ribbon Week:
Monday - Our Dreams are Too Big for Drugs! (pajamas)
Tuesday - Say Peace out to Drugs! (tie dye clothing)
Wednesday - From Head to Toe, I'm Drug Free! (crazy hair & socks)
Thursday - Color My World Drug Free! (each class wears a different color: preschool-orange, kindergarten-yellow, 1st-pink, 2nd-gray, 3rd-blue, 4th-black, 5th-green, 6th-red)
Friday - Stomp out Drugs! (mismatched shoes)

We love allowing prospective future educators the opportunity to come into our school and get a glimpse of what it is like to be a teacher. This one holds a special place in our hearts, as it is one of our own former students.

Kindergarten students ended Fire Safety Week with a visit from Firefighter Marshall, who also happens to be our Principal!

Mrs. Kleinsmith's kindergarten class made stone soup. Once it was done cooking, they sampled it and by the looks on their faces, it must have been delicious!

First grade students have enjoyed some time outdoors the past couple of weeks developing their skills of striking a stationary object with short and long handled implements in PE.

Have you signed up for parent-teacher conferences yet? Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 20th and Thursday, October 21st. Emails and notes were sent out last week with directions on how to sign up for conferences. If you have any questions or need help scheduling, please call the office at 563-674-4164.

Just a reminder...order forms for PTO's Prep, Freeze, Cook fundraiser are due this Friday, October 15th. Order forms can be turned into the office.

We love when parents come to visit - especially when they drive something as cool as a semi! A parent of one of Ms. Cathy's students stopped by and told students a little about her job. Our students then had the opportunity to climb up into the cab of the semi. Thank you for visiting, Sue!

The Delwood Elementary Book Fair is back! Come visit our book fair during Parent/Teacher Conferences. The book fair runs from October 18 through October 22. Contact Mrs. Proesch with any questions (cproesch@delwood.k12.ia.us).
