In guidance over the last couple of weeks, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students have been getting to teach their classmates about something that they really enjoy doing or that is important to them. This is to show that each classmate is important, and they get to learn something from each other to make everyone feel important! Here are some pictures from our fourth grade classrooms!

Fourth grade students in Miss Durkop’s class did a hands-on experiment in science while learning about speed and energy.

Jess Wagner from the Hurstville Interpretive Center visited Mrs. Eberhart's second grade classroom this week to teach students about the migration of monarch butterflies. Students then got to help tag and release the butterflies.

Mrs. Kieffer's third grade class has used Lego vocabulary and a "Brain Dump" strategy as part of their learning this year!

Our second and third grade classes worked on a STEM project together after reading the book "A Fine, Fine School." Students had to create a swing set for the main character's little brother, as an activity he would learn outside of school.

Fifth graders in Mrs. Maher's class experimented with separating mixtures in Science.

First graders have been working hard and their smiles tell us they are also having some fun!

Kindergarten students had fun hatching duck eggs for their Ag in the Classroom activity this week!

Students always enjoy Ag in the Classroom days with Jenna Stevens! Our fifth and sixth grade classes had the opportunity to dissect flowers yesterday.

We implemented new playground and 4-Square rules at the beginning of the school year. I was approached by a group of sixth graders who wanted a 4-Square rule changed. They compiled research, wrote a paper and gathered signatures from staff and fellow students who supported the change. They scheduled a meeting with me yesterday to present their data and discuss the issue. I asked them to give me a day to think over their presentation and I met with them again today to let them know that we will be making the rule change. I am proud of these students for taking the initiative and working to make their voices heard.
